Awesome City Limits - Part II

Posted by Andrew on Sunday, October 24, 2010, In : Road Trips
"Keep Austin Weird" is a slogan to promote small business in Texas' state capital. It's also become a flag for Austinites to wave proudly, declaring pride in their personal eccentricities; a freak flag, loud and bright. The official slogan of the city is 'The Live Music Capital of the World' which carries a lot of truth under the surface, despite the ballsy, almost ludicrous claim it first appears to seem.

It was the cast of characters that fly their flag the highest that came out to play on ...

Awesome City Limits - Part I

Posted by Andrew on Thursday, October 21, 2010, In : Road Trips
Keep Austin Weird - the time had finally come, boarding a flight to Austin, TX, ten days of insane lay ahead.

I sat next to two stinking hipsters hacking away at mixing programs on their Apple Macs. Tattoed and pierced, they literally did stink. At least the one next to me did when he took off his worn-out Converse sneakers. Geepers creepers.

Posted by Andrew on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, In : World Cup 2010

My superb hosts Attie and Athens picked me up at Park Station after a seriously delayed bus ride back from Zululand. My final weekend was about to begin. Last weekend was so good I decided to do it all again. Booked flights to Nashville, Tennessee to meet up with Steve and another buddy of his, Julius. J-Flip from the Phillipines.

My trip there started at 2am on Thanksgiving morning. Monster of a mi...

Who dat in the Big Easy

Posted by Andrew on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, In : Road Trips

On a spur of the moment whim I booked myself a flight down to Houston, Texas for a weekend with my old buddy Steve Beukman. The man has been living in Houston for two years and has embraced the Texan culture with open arms. Nice hands in fact. Nice hands Larry!

He picked me up at Houston International Airport on Friday evening en route to the liquor store to stock up for his farewell party that night. Steve is headed back to Joburg to make his mark again back home. It was an emotional time for...
