Whose country is it?

Posted by Andrew on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, In : Ramblings

It scares me more than it inspires me now how far South Africa still has to go as a country.

Iā€™m still inspired by the potential of the place ā€“ the beauty, the resources, the resilient spirit of the South African people ā€“ but it becomes clear how far we still have to go when you travel from the European bubble that is Cape Town to the African metropolis that is Johannesburg, and even more so when you do that with a more worldly perspective. The contrast is stark.

This Time For Africa ~ Part I

Posted by Andrew on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, In : World Cup 2010
I'm back!!!

Yes, that's right, I'm back in the USA after an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime trip through South Africa to follow the Soccer World Cup. As a friend of mine said, Baz, you can tick this off your bucket list now. Totally man. Tick.

I'm sitting in Dallas, Texas watching the World Cup Kick Off Concert on live streaming video.

Lucas Radebe is telling the world that the cup is staying here. Desmond Tutu is welcoming the world and giving thanks to Nelson Mandela for making this all possible. Vusi Mahlasela is singing his soulful songs.

I am feeling a crazy mix...

Proudly South African

Posted by Andrew on Saturday, December 12, 2009, In : Ramblings
We have such a unique country. We have so much to be proud of. Look at where we've come from. Look at where we are now. No, look beyond the obvious, the negative. Look beyond - and see a country, as diverse as you can get, working together; singing together; dancing together; living together.

A country living. Striving to live. Striving to survive.

One of the greatest human souls ā€“ certainly one of the ...

 Video Vibe for the Moment

From the movie Drive

Whose site is it anyway?

Andrew Barry Some people call me the Earthman. Some people call me Baz. Some people call me Barry or Bar. And some people also like jazz. I think most of the people surfing this site know who I am. If not - read on, my friend...
