My superb hosts Attie and Athens picked me up at Park Station after a seriously delayed bus ride back from Zululand. My final weekend was about to begin. A weekend of frank conversations, flirtations and rambunctious situations, punctuated by two notable occupations - a band's last stand on Louis Botha Avenue and a football match between two nations for the right to be called World Champions.

This Time For Africa ~ Part IV

Back in Jozi now, I stayed with good friends Marc and Gina, otherwise known (to me) as Attie and Athens. They had just recently purchased a house in the suburb of Parkwood and had already made an addition to their family in the form of a highly energetic, won't-take-no-for-an-answer puppy called Layla. Cute little Golden Retriever Layla. Wow, soon to become a close and intimate friend over the course of my 10 days with Attie and Athens.

As Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros sung "Home, let me come hooooome", so I set off from JFK International Airport on an arduous journey to the centre of the world's attention at the time - Johannesburg, South Africa.
