This Time For Africa ~ Part V

Posted by Andrew on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, In : World Cup 2010

My superb hosts Attie and Athens picked me up at Park Station after a seriously delayed bus ride back from Zululand. My final weekend was about to begin. A weekend of frank conversations, flirtations and rambunctious situations, punctuated by two notable occupations - a band's last stand on Louis Botha Avenue and a football match between two nations for the right to be called World Champions.

On to the first one, on to the first one....

So after the ignominy of watching the Springboks get blow...

This Time For Africa ~ Part IV

Back in Jozi now, I stayed with good friends Marc and Gina, otherwise known (to me) as Attie and Athens. They had just recently purchased a house in the suburb of Parkwood and had already made an addition to their family in the form of a highly energetic, won't-take-no-for-an-answer puppy called Layla. This Time For Africa ~ Part I

I'm back!!!

Yes, that's right, I'm back in the USA after an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime trip through South Africa to follow the Soccer World Cup. As a friend of mine said, Baz, you can tick this off your bucket list now. Totally man. Tick.

First off, I'd like to thank the absolutely awesome people that hosted my backpacking ass all over the country - Blomkool for the cottage I had all to myself in Parkhurst; my folks for my first night in Cape Town; my bro for good times back at the Guava...
