Big day out... car - check; apartment - check

What a day!

Things have been hectic this week. This is my... 6th day in the States. I've been spinning a little getting things sorted, but today, so much of that fell into place.

It started this morning when I bought my car. It was crazy. I've been looking at dealerships and 'gumtree' websites, finding all sorts of cars. Yankee-Phillie fever: a history lesson

As I am writing this, the Yankees are playing the Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series. The hype here has been insane - radio stations, newspapers, TV, and almost everyone you bump into is talking about it. The Yankees are playing the first two games at home in the Bronx. Last night was a major upset as the Phillies (who recently became the first franchise to lose 10 000 games - although they are the defending champions) upset the New York crowd, winning 6-1 with a phenomenal performance fr...

In the beginning...

Not a great start – after selling my car 15 mins before I left for the airport, a Joburg thunderstorm rendered the plane useless and we sat at OR Tambo for nearly two hours waiting for the backlog to clear. With no service and no entertainment, this was pretty boring. But the flight went by quickly. I had a pleasant old New York couple next to me, plenty of leg room and a box full of sleeping pills – no worries my side.
